Collection: 1980s New York Studio Abstractions from Fran Rosenfeld est.
Francine Rosenfeld was a highly influential artists' agent and representative based in New York City.
She was a formidable power player who helped define the visual look of the decade through the artists she represented.
She was a partner and key agent at Bernstein & Andriulli (B&A), one of the premier illustration and photography agencies in New York.
Known in the industry as "Fran," she was legendary for her "all-business" attitude and fierce advocacy for her artists.
She was a fixture of the NYC creative industry, connecting artists with major art directors and financial backers.
She was deeply active in the Manhattan art-buying world during the 70s and 80s, often described as a formidable presence who "knew everyone and everything" in the industry.
These 4 pieces, one of which is in my private collection, represent the vibrant scene of New York city in those years from STUDIO 54 to The Factory.
My mum, while exploring the NY underground art scene in the middle 80s, recognizing the possible cultural relevance, acquired a full stack of these drawings and brought them back to Italy where they sold to private collectors nearly immediately.
These last 4 miraculously were handed over to me in January 2026 (brava mamma).
