Collection: 1760 Delafosse Iconologie Historique

This collection brings together a substantial group of original engravings by Jean-Charles Delafosse, produced in Paris in the second half of the 18th century (c. 1760–1785).

Delafosse was a key figure in the transition to the Neoclassical style under Louis XVI, publishing suites of ornamental designs intended for architects, cabinetmakers, and decorative artists. His plates feature classical trophies, allegorical subjects, and architectural motifs that influenced French and European decorative arts.

All impressions in this collection are hand-coloured, most likely in the late 18th century, enhancing the original engraved designs.

As a large and cohesive group, these works represent an important visual record of Neoclassical ornament at its height.
