Suecia Antiqua et Hodierna was a monumental topographical and historical work commissioned by King Charles XI of Sweden. It aimed to glorify Sweden's past and present through hundreds of detailed engravings of its cities, castles and cultural artefacts, including these provincial insignia which served as decorative dividers between regional sections.
Copperplate engraving. Sheet size approximately 38.0 × 28.0 cm. Very Good condition, with some minor age toning and handling marks consistent with its age.
