Rosersberg, Garden View — Swidde

A magnificent late 17th-century engraving by Willem Swidde, capturing the grand Baroque parterre that flanked Rosersberg Palace.

Rosersberg's gardens, laid out in the late 17th century, were among the most refined in Sweden and exemplify the Carolean reception of French formal landscape design. Swidde's bird's-eye view, paired with the palace façade plate, allowed the estate to be appreciated as an integrated work of architecture, landscape and political statement.
