An exquisite late 17th-century engraving capturing Rosersberg Palace from the side of its formal Baroque parterre.
Original Latin title: Delineatio Splendidissimi Palatii ROSERSBERG ab ea parte quae hortum spectat. Engraved by Willem Swidde. From Suecia Antiqua et Hodierna. Published in Stockholm, 1690.
Rosersberg, built in the 1630s for Bengt Oxenstierna and remodelled later in the century, became one of Sweden's three principal royal residences when it passed to the Crown in 1762. Swidde's plate documents the seventeenth-century garden plan, since simplified during the late 18th-century English landscape revival.
Copperplate engraving. Good, with minor creasing and age-toning to the margins.
