A magnificent copperplate engraving depicting two detailed views of the Royal Palace in Stockholm, a testament to 17th-century Swedish architectural grandeur.
This print, titled Pars Septentrionalis Arcis Regiæ Holmenfis, was designed by Erik Dahlbergh for his monumental work Suecia Antiqua et Hodierna, published in Stockholm in 1693.
Dahlbergh's ambitious project aimed to document Sweden's historical and architectural heritage. This plate is particularly significant as it illustrates the northern part of the Tre Kronor Castle as it appeared or was planned in 1693, just four years before the devastating fire that destroyed much of the original structure.
Copperplate engraving. Sheet size approximately 35.0 × 45.0 cm. Very Good.
