A detailed mid 17th-century architectural engraving of the Stockholm palace of Senator Schering Rosenhane, an influential Swedish statesman and intellectual.

Engraved by Jean Marot. Published in Paris, c. 1665.

Rosenhane's house on Riddarholmen, designed by Jean De la Vallée, was among the first private Stockholm residences to adopt the new French Baroque manner. Jean Marot's engraving, circulated in his Parisian architectural treatises, helped position Sweden as a serious participant in the European Baroque and reflected the close ties between Stockholm and the court of Louis XIV.

Copperplate engraving. Very Good.
