This print is part of Erik Dahlbergh's monumental Suecia Antiqua et Hodierna, a comprehensive topographical work documenting Sweden's cities, castles and landscapes, often compared to Merian's Topographia Germaniae. Strömstad, founded as a strategic frontier town in 1672, was a key port on Sweden's western coast.
