A magnificent early 18th-century architectural print of Sturefors Palace in Östergötland, viewed from the east beside the lake.
Original Latin title: PALATIUM STUREFORS orientem versus, ut vetere diruto jam extructum conspicitur. Engraved by Johannes van den Aveelen. From Suecia Antiqua et Hodierna. Published in Stockholm, 1715.
Sturefors, designed by Nicodemus Tessin the Younger for Field Marshal Carl Piper, replaced an earlier manor on the same site and remains one of the best-preserved Baroque country seats in Sweden. Aveelen's plate, made shortly after the rebuilding, records Tessin's achievement at the moment of its completion.
Copperplate engraving. Very Good.
