Växjö, a small but ancient cathedral town in the southern Swedish heartland, embodied the modest scale of most provincial Swedish cities of the period. Aveelen's panoramic format, used throughout Suecia Antiqua et Hodierna for episcopal and minor royal seats, allows the cathedral and lake to be read together as a unified historical landscape.
