A fascinating early 18th-century engraving depicting legendary burial sites in Småland, Sweden, from a monumental topographical work.

Original Latin titles: Danici Regis Hamleti Hýldetani Sepulcrum in campis Brauallinis Smolandiae and Tumuli Ubbonis, ubi Regis Hýldetani pugillum fortissimus Ubbo irruens in praelio Brauallensi caesus, sepultus est. Engraved by Samuel von der Broen. From Suecia Antiqua et Hodierna. Published in Stockholm, 1700.

Erik Dahlbergh's Suecia Antiqua et Hodierna was an ambitious project to document Sweden's historical sites, cities, and landscapes, often blending factual topography with legendary narratives. This print illustrates sites associated with the legendary Battle of Bråvalla.
