A post-armistice domestic comedy in which the 'strategy of the pillow' replaces the strategy of the trenches.
Original French title: La Stratégie de l'Oreiller. Drawn by Jean Tam. Published in La Vie Parisienne, Paris, 1919.
Jean Tam was a regular contributor to La Vie Parisienne in the years immediately after the First World War, his bedroom and boudoir vignettes among the magazine's most knowingly framed compositions. The post-war 'strategy' titles — pillow, peace, demobilisation — recur across the period, repurposing the vocabulary of the General Staff for the lighter campaigns of the Parisian apartment.
Chromolithograph. Sheet size approximately 38.5 × 28.8 cm. Very Good.
