An evocative early twentieth-century chromolithograph in which fashion and the motor car converge — emblems of a swiftly modernising bourgeoisie.

Drawn by Louis Bonnotte. Published in La Vie Parisienne, Paris, c. 1925.

La Vie Parisienne defined the look of the Roaring Twenties for French readers, pairing risqué wit with elegant draughtsmanship. Bonnotte's compositions, like this one, juxtapose the silhouettes of haute couture against the new geometry of the automobile, registering the magazine's fascination with speed, leisure, and reinvented femininity in the inter-war years.

Chromolithograph. Sheet size approximately 26.8 × 19.4 cm. Very Good.
