A delightful Art Deco poster by Adolphe Mouron Cassandre, featuring a playful dog entangled in vibrant yellow thread for a French cotton brand.
Original title: Fils et Cotons J.A.. Designed by Adolphe Mouron Cassandre. Published by Anciens Établissements Léopold Verger et Cie, Paris, 1923. For Fils et Cotons J.A., Bapaume-lès-Rouen.
Adolphe Mouron Cassandre produced multiple variants and formats of this design for the J.A. textile brand, of which this is one of the rarer larger compositions. His use of bold colour and energetic animal motifs typifies the playful commercial style that flourished in French advertising under the Verger press during the 1920s, when humour and warmth were prized assets in promoting domestic goods.
Chromolithograph. Sheet size 35.5 × 24.4 cm. Excellent.
