An elegant Art Deco advertising poster featuring a stylised rose with a smiling woman's face emerging from its petals.
Original title: Savon Dongè. Designed by Adolphe Mouron Cassandre. Published in Paris, 1929.
The fusion of feminine portraiture with floral motif was a recurring trope in late Art Deco perfume and soap advertising, drawing on traditions of allegorical personification that linked beauty products to natural ideals. Aly was a leading commercial artist of the period, working extensively with the Verger and Muller presses, and his elegant geometric stylisation typifies the mature Art Deco poster aesthetic of 1929.
Chromolithograph. Sheet size 34.0 × 24.7 cm. Excellent.
