Floral Pattern Paper — Remondini

A finely engraved late eighteenth-century floral paper, its lively scrolling stems and blossoms hand-coloured in characteristically vivid pigments.

By the 1790s the Remondini firm employed several hundred workers and exported decorative papers across Europe, the Americas, and the Levant. Floral pattern sheets such as this drew on contemporary textile and wallpaper design and were prized for their bold colour and fashionable arrangement, used to ornament cabinets, bind books, and paper modest interiors.
